Grey�s Anatomy Season 7 Episode 18: Song Beneath the Song (The Music Event), this episode is the first ever musical episode of the longest running medical-drama TV series on ABC. I react negatively when I first read about this episode. �What the heck!? Did they turn Grey�s into Glee?� said with raised eyebrows and rolling of eyes. That exactly was my initial reaction. I thought Shonda Rhimes is losing it. But when I watched the episode preview of this episode, I was totally impressed.
Without reservation, the Grey�s Anatomy: The Music Event will be the most memorable of all episodes and the best of all the accounts ever released. This episode will feature our doctors singing the theme song of the series and this plan actually was credited to Shonda Rhimes which the productions have said that the intention is go deeper with the story and it allows them to explore the inner lives of the doctors in the story. The show will flaunt all the iconic songs delivered in the show and this will be performed by all the doctors themselves.
Did you know that some of our favorite doctors in Seattle Grace Hospital are actually professional singers? Sara Ramirez (Dr. Callie Torrez) is Tony Award winner. She is the original Lady of the Lake in the 2005 Broadway musical Spamalot, for which she won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Meanwhile, Chandra Wilson (Dr. Miranda Bailey) is also a stage actress and was featured in the Tony-nominated musical Caroline, or Change. Chandra is an accomplished singer, and has sung in several productions.
The Grey�s Anatomy Season 7 Episode 18: Song Beneath the Song will feature nine songs closely associated with the show. Sara Ramirez will sing lead on �Grace�, �Chasing Cars� and �The Story�. She will also be singing together with Jessica Capshaw (Dr. Arizona Robbins) in the �Universe & U� song.
The ensemble of Ramirez, McKidd, Daniel Sunjata, Scott Foley, Justin Chambers, Chandra Bailey, Kim Raver and Capshaw gets two numbers: �How to Save a Life� and Jesus Jackson�s �Running On Sunshine.� Chyler Leigh also revealed that she will be singing on some songs. Ellen Pompeo (Dr. Meredith Grey) also revealed on Ellen Degeneres Show that �they made me� sing.
This will be an iconic episode that all Grey�s fans should never miss and would always remember. The show creator, Shonda Rhimes promises give a promise that �Nobody is going to be dancing and singing down the halls; that�s not our show.�
