Today, we are looking at the one action that you need to take to be successful in MLM/Network Marketing.
Prospecting For Customers and Recruits
Many of you might disagree with this, and that is ok, but the reality is that without customers and recruits you DO NOT HAVE A BUSINESS, you have an expensive hobby that you are playing around with. I am not trying to be harsh, but if you look at those who have truly succeeded in MLM you will find that they spend most of their time recruiting for themselves or working with their team members to help them recruit.
Prospecting should be your number 1 Priority in your business and where most of your time is spent. Included in that is the time it takes to sign up people for your business and train them. It is all part of the same package.
I spent many years doing activities that were fun and safe but brought in no money whatsoever. I was great at working on the computer and designing ads, because I thought that would bring in money, sales and recruits. The only thing is, I never got out there and used the tool I made to increase my business. I would find excuses as to why today wasn’t a good day to go out and talk to people, or why I didn’t have time to get on the phone and call a lead. I would watch others win awards and make money, and I would be jealous because I thought that it must be because they were special or had some incredible good luck charm that just made people want to join their company and I didn’t. What I realize now is that they weren’t lucky or special. They were just really good at talking to people and they got that way by practising. Good old fashion hard work.
The wonderful thing about this it that anyone including you can learn these skills and get good at them. Is it uncomfortable at first or even scary? Sure it is. If you could have seen the first time I tried to talk to someone about building my business and how I fumbled over my words you would have laughed. I kept on practicing and now I can do it in my sleep. My kids complain now because they can’t go anywhere with me without me talking to someone about my company.
So how do you start?
Here are some suggestions to get you on the right road.
1. Plan your time each week where you are going to go out prospecting. Put it in your calendar.
2. Contact the person who recruited you and get them to train you on how they recruit. When I started with my current company, I spent every moment I could with our manager, following her around and learning how she recruited. It didn’t take long before I was recruiting without her.
3. Find the way of recruiting that works for you. There is no one RIGHT way to prospect in MLM. There is only the way that right for you. Don’t be afraid to try new things and when you find the one that works keep doing it and then slowly add other ways as well. If you want to work online then learn how to do it and do it well.
